The Bob Baker Marionette Theater

An adult alone at a puppet show is bound to look suspicious, but as Colin works pretty much every hour of the day forever I had no choice but to fly solo.

The Bob Baker Marionette Theater is in downtown LA, and pretty much walking distance from my home. I went to see the show this morning with a whole bunch of five year olds and one strange 40 year old man (the only other adult weirdo there).

The music was dated and the puppets were noticeably ageing, but every five year old in the audience was captivated. Take that, parents groups who preach about how children can't enjoy old fashioned entertainment in a world of "dangerous video games".

I also enjoyed the show, but I didn't stay for the free ice-cream and neither did the creepy guy. I guess we both knew how we looked.

Art'n

Here are some snaps from some Art Gallery excursions we've taken. The Street Art exhibition was pretty much the best art show I've ever seen, and we left with a ton of cool ideas of stuff to do ourselves.

This is the best car. Ever.

String?

STRING!?!

Cosmic fun room! It was indeed fun.

That's us. Except the R bit.

What is this? London?

And of course, gratuitous food shot. Salted caramel pie.

Colin is shooting TV all day, then a rap video tonight. He's worked his way up to Camera which is just effing great. I'm waiting for a package today, stuck at home watching a lot of BEYOND BELIEF: FACT OR FICTION (hosted by Riker!). Not really blog worthy, I know.

This little guy should be showing up on my doorstep either today or tomorrow:
Bi-Winning.

Anyhoo, you asked for more blog action and here it is. Colin has wednesday off so I think it's time to finally hit up those Venice Beach Fish Taco's from "I Love You, Man". Stay tuned.

Over and out.

Lazin'

TV On The Radio, one of the numerous things that happened while I've been too lazy to post.

Hello once again. I realise I've been slacking off with the blog, but with all the Visa/work/visiting friends/shenanigans happening... actually, I've been spending a lot of time just laying around streaming Garth Merenghi's DARK PLACE and drinking Dr Pepper.

I used to think "DOCTOR Pepper? Who would get a medical degree only to make soft drink?" (albeit it does taste like medicine), but since living in LA I've discovered there are many reasons to become a doctor. The main one seems to be 'to sell medicinal marijuana'.

But I digress.

That's a sushi party on my plate, unfortunately they only invited one Lazy Salmon.

Clare and Simon were here from sunny London towne, they let us stay in their palatial mansion with them for the week. It was amazing. When it was over I hated my room and everything in it for being so small.

ET on the car trip back. This was one time he didn't want to go home.

We've been doing some filmmaking of our own while we're here too. Colin is working on a Russian Mini-Series at the moment, so it makes sense that after a 12-14 hour day he'd want to come home and make more movies. But the kid loves it. Kind of like how I would come home from Evil Farm and pretend to sell ciggies and lotto tickets to old pedophiles... not.

The kid loves the pictures.

Clare had a list of places to eat, which was more than welcome as we had been having some trouble finding the good stuff. Here we are at The Griddle Cafe, where a large Pumpkin Pancake is about to devour Clare.

This is not a breakfast. This is a desert. Or possibly several deserts. Or the last meal request of a soulless man.

Red Velvet pancakes? Again, this is a desert, people.

"Please, don't photograph my shame"

The Pancake defeats Colin.

"Let's never speak of this again".

Then home, to make more moofies.

Also on the list was Mozza Pizza Cafe, which was just freaking great. I wish I could eat all of the Pizzas.

Salted Caramel Ice cream with Salty peanuts and Marshmallow cream.

Butterscotch win.

It took a while, but I am now officially in love with this city. It is more of a Betty than a Veronica, it's not my type at all, but-like an Ashton Kutcher romantic comedy-we have become an unlikely match. Only the city might be Ashton and I'm like Walter Matthau or something.

Later doodz

Went to Universal Studios, staying with Clare and Simon in Laurel Canyon. Too sleepy to think of anything funny to say. Just look at the darn photos.
